Tucano Peru is one of the few companies that constantly researches and develops attractive, sustainable products to reect our commitment to protecting Peru’s beautiful, delicate environment and rich cultural heritage.
Our goal is that our ‘eco-tourist’ clients continue to convey the conservation message when they return home. We are also not afraid to shine the spotlight on Tucano Peru’s own practices in order to reduce our own and our clients’ carbon footprint.
Voluntourism
Tucano Peru has been connecting travellers to locals, at all levels, for many years and leads the way in providing holidays that enable travellers to tackle the environmental and social issues in Peru. For the past three years, we have been running a ‘voluntourism’ project in the hospitable, Andean community of Sallayfall, where ‘voluntravellers’ have the chance to experience the traditions of music, dance, textiles and working the land, whilst giving something back in the form of construction, health assistance and employment.
Eco-Conscious
One of Tucano Peru’s stated aims is to make all of our tours as carbon-neutral as possible. So we have a new selection of Carbon-Free Tours – ranging from treks to luxurious, tailor-made itineraries.
We work closely with environmental bodies, such as A2G Carbon Partners, Fair Travel and Rainforest Alliance, who recently incorporated us into their prestigious Tour Operator Promoting Sustainability (TOPS) network.
Eco-tours
As well as underpinning all our actions as a travel company with sustainable practices, Tucano Peru also offers specifically eco-friendly tours, meaning: We use only organic foods on the tour. The hotels we select are chosen for their sustainable tourism practices, including energy sources, water recycling and waste disposal. the guides and other crew are all locals
