Ourense, 22/05 / 2017.- His Majesty the King of Spain, Don Felipe VI, will preside over the Committee of Honor of Termatalia 2017 that will be celebrated in Ourense between the 20th and the 23rd of September. This acceptance endorses the trajectory of the International Fair of Thermal Tourism, Health and Welfare and positions it as a project of general interest for society by promoting the Culture of Water and its sustainable use, while generating new business opportunities for companies Spanish and Latin American as the fair has positioned itself as an example of public-private cooperation in Ibero-America. With his acceptance to be part of this committee, the House of the King ratifies his support for this appointment for another year as he has done for years, as Prince of Asturias. In 2015 it was the first edition that he confirmed as King of Spain and this year he repeats, since His Majesty presides over it in the editions held in Spain.
The boom that thermalism is experiencing as an economic, tourist and health activity, leads to the need to involve public and private sectors. This fact has taken another year to the organization of TERMATALIA to participate in this project through its presence in the Committee of Honor to various national and regional public institutions related to the health tourism sector. The Minister of Health of the Government of Spain, Dolors Monserrat, and the President of the Institute for Tourism Quality (ICTE), Spas of Spain and Vice-President of Spaincares, Miguel Mirones, have already accepted to be part of this committee. It has also confirmed the president of the Xunta de Galicia, Alberto Núñez Feijóo and several conselleiros of his government (Economy, Employment and Industry and Health) or the Government delegate in Galicia, Santiago Villanueva Álvarez. The representatives of two main partners of this project, the Provincial Council of Ourense (Manuel Baltar) and the City of Ourense (Jesús Vázquez) have also accepted their presence in this honor committee.
Termatalia has the Seal of Internationality granted by the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness of the Government of Spain and during its last edition, held in Mexico in 2016, it was recognized by the Congress of Deputies of the State of Coahuila. In the edition of Argentina in 2014 got the declaration of Tourist Interest of the Argentine Government and the Declaration of Parliamentary Interest by the Chamber of Deputies of the Nation. During the 2012 edition, held in Peru, the fair also won the recognition of International Fair by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Peru and also the Declaration of “National Tourist Event” by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism.
Mexico will participate as a guest country in Termatalia 2017, which will be held in Ourense between September 20 and 23, and the participation of several states and a large delegation of professionals from the sector is expected, as will happen with other countries such as Argentina, Costa Rica, Panama, or Colombia, as well as delegations from different European countries, especially integrated in the European Spas Association (ESPA) and the European Historic Thermal Towns Association (EHTTA). In addition, the celebration of the fair in Ourense will allow visitors to know the offer of Health Tourism and Wellness Destination Galicia-North Portugal, which represents the highest concentration of mineral-medicinal waters in Europe.
