OURENSE CELEBRA EL GLOBAL WELLNESS DAY

Ourense 10/06 / 2017.- Ourense has joined the celebration of Global Wellness Day with an event that brought together different institutional, business and social representatives in the As Burgas Pool of the city, among which there was the mayor of Ourense, Jesús Vázquez; the territorial delegate of the Xunta, Marisol Díaz; the vice-president of the Diputation and councilor of Termalism of Ourense Jorge Puma; the national deputy Celso Delgado; the president of the Trade Federation of Ourense and the director of Termatalia, Alejandro Rubín. It was organized by Termatalia and counted with the collaboration of the City of Ourense. The objective of this meeting was to position Ourense as a healthy and well-being destination.

Termatalia, International Fair of Thermal Tourism, Health and Wellness, has an international strategic network that includes many of the entities that promote health tourism worldwide. Among these is also the “Global Wellness Day”, since one of the objectives of Termatalia is to promote a healthy lifestyle and quality tourism that respects the environment.

Ourense, on the other hand, celebrates this day to promote itself as a healthy destination, a concept that goes beyond its thermal potential and also includes its natural resources and a quality gastronomy with many “kilometer zero” products produced, processed and marketed in the province.

GLOBAL WELLNESS DAY
World Wellness Day is an event that transcends borders, it is celebrated globally on the second Saturday of each month of June, at present more than 74 countries already have an active participation. The aim of this day of reflection is to promote wellness and a healthy lifestyle. With this initiative, we seek to create social awareness about the consequences and the importance of prevention and well-being in people’s health.

The first celebration took place in Turkey in 2012 and what was born as a small local event, in just five years, has become a celebration of global magnitude. Its objective: Create social awareness to promote wellness and a healthier lifestyle. Today more than 600 sites spread across the seven continents have already reached more than 100 million people. And the movement keeps growing.

The activities promoted by this celebration are: walk one hour a day, lead a respectful life with the Environment, drink lots of water, prepare a healthy daily menu with fresh and local products, spend time with the family and sleep a minimum of eight hours.
